The Zoofold Story

Zoofold is the creation of India Aspin – a qualified architect, design enthusiast, and fancy dress fanatic. After hand-making a pair of wildlife themed festival outfits back in 2010, India discovered that she had both the instinctive eye and essential inventiveness for costume design. Keen to build on this newfound enthusiasm, she drew on her architect’s skills in 3D modelling, spatial thinking, and precision draftsmanship to devise a whole new breed of fancy dress headgear.

India has spent over two years developing prototypes, sourcing materials, and perfecting her beautiful designs, and has now left the architect’s life behind to release Zoofold into the wild.

The Zoofold Design

The Zoofold design is a unique combination of factors: part fun craft kit, part designer wall art and part wildly characterful costume accessory.

While they can be appreciated as beautiful design objects in their own right, and they look stunning hung on the wall, the real joy of a Zoofold is in the wearing, sharing, and showing off!

As well as making a striking and stand-out costume for festivals and parties, they have been thoughtfully devised for maximum flexibility and ease of use: they can easily be worn on top of the head as a hat, or slipped down over the face as a mask. This adaptability gives partygoers the freedom to eat, drink, and chat without the clumsiness or discomfort that can ruin an otherwise perfect costume.

The Zoofold Ethos

To help the wildlife that inspired them, Zoofold have pledged that 5% profits from the Woodland Collection will be donated to the Woodland Trust. The intention is for similar donations to continue as further collections are released, with each Collection being paired with an relevant charity.

In more good news for the natural world, Zoofolds are printed locally on 100% recycled card and are recyclable: finished with bio-degradable laminate, Zoofolds are an eco-friendly alternative to disposable but indissoluble plastics.

(Please note: Due to a change in manufacturer the Skull masks were not able to be laminated with bio-degradable material)

The Zoofold Campaign

In April 2016 the Zoofold Kickstarter campaign was launched, to crowd-fund Zoofold's very first collection: The Woodland Sett!  Support came in from all over the globe and thanks to these first Zoofold fans together we managed to raise over £10k in under a month. This was enough to manufacture and package the first three designs along with a few special edition rewards for her generous funders. In time India hopes to develop enough animal designs to fill an entire zoo, including seasonal ranges such as Halloween or Christmas.
